DAY22: A STORY TO TELL
When was the last time you had great news that you cannot wait to share with your friends? You must have felt that way when you first encountered God. Truth is, our initial encounter with God is just the beginning. Each of us is a story in the making, unique stories that will all point to God’s power to transform a life. But that will all depend on how much we will allow God to work in and through us. In His gentleness, He does not impose on us but gives us the chance to decide whether or not we would yield to His will and purposes for us.
Yet know that we have tasted how good it is to have a relationship with an all-powerful yet also loving God, is there really a better choice? May we all willingly surrender our pens to the One who is the Author and Perfecter of our faith and let Him write bestsellers out of our lives (Hebrew 12:2). So, how would you want your story to be? (EXCERPT FROM THE DEVOTIONAL)
I remember everytime I introduce the 121 booklet to my follow-up; I always go first with the introduction. “dun sa introduction”, there was this acronym termed as START
Stop trusting in yourself and start trusting in Christ alone for salvation
Turn from everything the bible calls sin
Attend weekly services and small group
Read and obey your bible everyday
Tell others about your new relationship with Christ
(I hope I got everything right, I can’t seem to find my 121 booklet at this moment. HEHE)
Ever since we have become a Christian, our lives have been a STORY TO TELL! To tell you the truth, actually at present times, the most powerful way of inviting others to have a relationship with Jesus Christ is through our testimonies; from our stories and somehow, one of the reasons why many of our family members are being saved is because of our stories (or maybe vice versa; that none of them are still saved because we never tend to share our stories to them).
Upon dwelling on this portion of the devotional, some thoughts flashed on my mind:
1. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO MAKE KWENTO
If there is someone who is good at making kwento’s about ourselves, I think it’s us! And the frequent we do it, the more that our friends would be inspired to know what we have been experiencing. It’s like when we watch a great movie! The movie was so great that we can’t help but to share it to our friends. Not just that, we will spend time with them watching the movie even though we have already experienced the fullness of the movie. THEN WHAT MORE IF WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO SHARE IS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD? J
2. JUST BE YOURSELF
Our friends will be able to understand it quickly if we will be yourself while telling them our story. You’ll be more efficient! THAT’S A FACT! J Just don’t try to be another person when you make kwento, it will just make you ineffective!
3. DON’T WORRY ABOUT HOW HE/SHE WILL RESPOND
God is with you! SYEMPRE! Everything that you will share is just out of His grace into your life! Si God na bahala sa kanya! Just share what you need to share! Just like what is written in 1Corinthians 3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So don’t worry! God will be the one to make the growth! Our job is to plant the seed! We may not know the exact date that our friend/family members will respond but as long as we continue what we are currently doing, God will surely make that growth that we are praying for! J
4. ENGAGE! Don’t Equip,Establish and Empower!
Just like in the principle of discipleship, engage first! Doing the next step will just complicate the situation! Just patiently prepare the person little by little! J
That is all. HAHA. J Each one of us has his/her own unique story to tell! Let us just be excited to tell it to others! Thank God for this great opportunity that he has given me to be refreshed with this topic J. Now, I am excited to SHARE MY STORY TO THE WORLD J
